"I am not one who was born in the custody of wisdom. I am one who is fond of olden times and intense in quest of the sacred knowing of the ancients." Gustave Courbet

Growing.

When people ask me are you happy, I'd say that isn't quite the question. The real question is am I still growing? Have I become a finished creation? Am I dead or am I still growing? Is my life still an adventure, an adventure full of trouble, full of joy, full of pain, full of cataclysm. Am I still living dangerously? So, am I still growing is the real question.

Perceiver.

Steve's pointing to Moriarty again ...
It is yourself as perceiver of the world, not the world, that you should be attempting to change.

Undergo.

As the folktale sees I see.
As the folktale lives I live.
And the path to my door, that too is a folktale.

Coming here you either undergo what people undergo in a folktale, or you will never lift my latch.

Little wonder I so rarely hear my latch being lifted.

Wonder.

Steve's getting wonder-filled ...
Every year at leaf-fall, Pwyll and his men rode to Arberth.  Riding through a valley five valleys from home they were like an old story Taliesin would tell.  And they had it in them to go with the story.  They had it in them, living now, riding now to Arberth, to be a tale told by a fireside in the far past, to be a tale told by a fireside in the far future.  And they would say, would sometimes say, that their only reason for being in the world was to give the world a chance to live out its own strangeness, its own danger, and its own wonder in them.

Away.

Who am I in the bush, who am I outside of the human community, who am I in the wilderness away from, sight even, of the smoke from the campfire?

Wonderful.

John Moriarty on his bush soul, fireplaces, and books ...
First and foremost they're books that explain me to me.  They give me a language that helps me.  It's almost a mirror I can look on.  These books or these books will be a mirror to me and i can say, "Yeah, I recognize me to me"... If you're beyond a place where no one understands, then you're in real trouble.  But it's when you recognize that maybe you know other people have been there there are other people who know this territory, who know this countryside, and it is this countryside is not unexplored, then, that's wonderful to know ...

Know.

God doesn't need to come down upon a mountain, for the mountain itself is the revelation. We only have to look at it and we will know how we should live.

Thanks to Julian Summerhayes for pointing me in this direction.
