A massive Chinook salmon has been caught in Lake Michigan, setting a record for the largest such fish caught in the state.

On Saturday, Aug. 7, 19-year-old Luis R. Martinez was fishing off Big Sable Point in Mason County and ended up landing a Chinook salmon that weighed 47.86 pounds and was 47.5 inches long, according to Jay K. Wesley, Lake Michigan basin coordinator for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
