Eric Sloane
At school, we are beginning our Early American History unit. In fifth grade we explore Pre-Colonial Exploration through The Oregon Trail. One of the resources I use frequently to expose the kids to what culture was really like in that period is the amazing collection of books by author/artist Eric Sloane. He's a master.
Some of my favorites of his are Eric Sloane's America, Once Upon A Time: The Way America Was, A Reverence For Wood, and The ABCs of Early Americana. His books on weather are also very useful. Compendiums all.
Sloane's site is here.
Was I born at the right time?
