Verlander threw his second career no-hitter back in May. His next start, he didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning. Two other times this season, including last Sunday's duel against Angels ace Jered Weaver, Verlander took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
Verlander, 28, is 15-5 with a 2.24 ERA and 178 strikeouts. He's arguably the leading candidate for the AL Cy Young Award and maybe even the league MVP.
