"Mighty Oak" is the ace of trees
Afloat for nine hundred years.
Wonderful gift, nature's keepsake.
A jewel of English Peers.
Sturdy and deciduous,
Foliage falling when summer's gone;
As the leaves turn golden yellow
And delicate as chiffon.
Acorn is the fruit ~ take heed!
"Moist planting" is the secret creed,
"Indigo" tree blossoms forth
Sheltering the Lady and her horse.
Impetuous action, never never!
The Oak's allure is a slow endeavour.
Fragment by fragment, growing slowly
Oak trees are so very Holy.
Wood from the oak is sublime
Always straight-grained and fine
So cast your eye up to the sky
And thank The One reigning on high.
