Reunion.

On July 21, 1861, two armies clashed for the first time on the fields overlooking Bull Run. Heavy fighting swept away any notion of a quick war.

On July 21, 1861, the forces of the United States and the Army of Northern Virginia clashed for the first time at Manassas, Virginia in what came to be known as the First Battle of Bull Run. This "reunion" photograph was taken just months before the two armies engaged again at this location in the Second Battle of Bull Run, fought in August of 1962.
