Brown Dog is back.

Harrison's latest collection of novellas contains the return of the Yooper Chippewa (Anishnabe) Brown Dog, my favorite naturalist. The author states, "The attitudes of Brown Dog are my survival mechanism in a world in which I most often feel out of place."

The NYT Book Review described Brown Dog as, "an alter ego for Harrison, or for anyone who might imagine a life unburdened by ambition and materialism, in tune with both nature and natural appetites."

From Brown Dog Redux ...
"The only loud sound he liked was a storm on Lake Superior when monster waves would come crashing over the pier in Grand Marais or Marquette. He also liked the sounds of crickets and birds, and a hard rain in the forest in the summer with the wind blowing through billions of leaves."

Simple words, simple language, sublime images.
